The United States Vice President, Kamala Harris, arrived in Ghana on an official state visit on Sunday afternoon, and she was received by Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
She is in Africa for a week, visiting Ghana, Tanzania, and Zambia with the goal of strengthening US-African relations with an emphasis on youth population growth, economic development, and the effects of climate change and food security.
After briefly hosting Vice President Kamala Harris at the Jubilee House, Dr. Bawumia wished her and her team a good and successful stay in Ghana, Africa, and generally.
Prior to her arrival, the Ghana Police Service had declared that as part of the security preparations for the US Vice President visit, some congested highways in Accra will be temporarily stopped.
From March 26 through March 29, 2023, the police will implement new traffic regulations on Accra’s and Cape Coast’s congested routes.
According to a press statement from the police, there will be traffic arrangements in Accra today, Sunday, March 26, 2023, from noon to 4 PM.
The police have announced that there would be sporadic roadblocks along the Liberation Road from the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) traffic intersection up to the National Theatre through Opeibea.
On Monday, March 27, 2023, there will be a different traffic pattern in place from 9 am to 9 pm. This time, there will be intermittent roadblocks from the National Theatre to the Jubilee House via the AU Roundabout and from the Jubilee House to the Shiashie neighborhood near the Emmanuel Eye Clinic.
There will also be sporadic roadblocks along the John Evans Atta Mills High Street, past the Labone Secondary School area, and on to the Bukom Boxing Arena from the Ako Adjei Interchange.
